About Us

Helm Marine Services Pty Ltd (Helm) is a private company operating in the marine services industry.

Helm provides specialised marine and port operation consultancy services across numerous industries including oil and gas, mining, transport, marine operations, and pilotage. Helm provides total management solutions to businesses that operate marine support services around Australia, including pilotage and associated offshore and harbour support services. Helm is also an equal joint venture partner in Laveer Maritime, a Western Australian owned and operated marine services company, whose vision is to be a leading national provider of integrated marine services to ports and offshore terminals.

Helm was established by Lisa Hamilton and Fiona Wee who, after many years of experience in the resources industry as both client and contractor, have come together to provide offerings that meet the specific needs of the client. Collectively our experience in providing consultancy services spans a number of varying industries, including mining, marine operations, pilotage and healthcare services.

At the Helm

Helm is managed, and all work is undertaken, by Lisa and Fiona.

Two highly experienced directors and managers who have spent the majority of our careers in mid-senior management positions within the WA resources and marine industries. We have worked together, in various professional relationships, for over 17 years.

Lisa Hamilton & Fiona Wee

Director and CEO

Both are the former GM Marine, Woodside Energy, managing pilotage, offshore supply, harbour towage and marine assurance.
Both are experienced in rapid development and deployment of a significant start up marine operation (new towage operations in Port Hedland).
Both are experienced company directors including port authorities and not-for-profit associations.

Lisa is also the former GM NWS Offshore, Woodside Energy, bringing insight into the drivers and expectations of offshore facilities. She is experienced in marine industrial relations, with a background as an industrial relations and employment lawyer in Victoria. Lisa is a current Director on Leederville Gardens Inc, and is Vice Chair of the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre.

Fiona is also the former Marketing & Export Manager Onslow Salt and Consolidated Minerals with experience in bulk shipping operations, commercial contracting and ship chartering. She has experience in transhipment operations, luxury yacht chartering, and has provided business consultancy services to start-up organisations. Fiona is a current Director of the Kimberley Port Authority and the Chair of Just Peoples.

LAVEER MARITIME

In 2021 Helm, together with established WA pilotage service provider West Coast Pilots Pty Ltd, created a new incorporated joint venture, Laveer Maritime. Laveer Maritime Pty Ltd (Laveer) is a Western Australian owned and operated marine services company, whose vision is to be a leading national provider of integrated marine services to ports and offshore terminals.

Laveer was created to evolve a highly traditional industry, to one that is responsive to client requirements and national market dynamics – without compromising on standards. Laveer is establishing itself as a respected and professional organisation with in-depth market knowledge, a national network of pilots and services and a strong long term strategic growth plan.
